Before You Start

Introduction

This document is intended as a guide to using Packet Edit Studio on your PC, It contains little to no value on the Packet Edit Studio source code. If you are looking for source code documentation go to the Developer's Guide.

At present Packet Edit Studio is only available for x86 machines. This will probably change in the near future however I do not yet have a 64 bit machine so it is hard for me to develop and debug for 64 bit platforms.

Packet Edit Studio is written for Windows. It's entire design is based around very specific windows architecture. As such it would be cumbersome but not impossible to convert the project to a functional *nix tool. This is further complicated by the fact the Packet Edit Studio was written using MFC. With those points in mind it is unlikely that you will ever see this project in a *nix implimentation however you can look forward to the project growing on the Windows platform.

Getting the latest Package

The latest version of Packet Edit Studio is always available in the project's SourceForge download page. There may be several releases there, however the latest version will always be at the top.
